Favourite quote:
We think too much and feel too little. More than machinery, we need humanity; more than cleverness, we need kindness and gentleness. Without these qualities, life will be violent and all will be lost.

Ojasvi Sharma from Delhi is a Neurosciences and Neuropsychology graduate, but she believes she has always been a very artistic and spiritual person. She realized she was destined to be a performer when the universe sent her a print advertisement for a leading cosmetic brand at the age of 18. Seeing her face on hoardings, in leading newspapers, and on the product boxes made her chase her dreams and therefore took to modeling as a career. She is passionate about dancing, acting, writing, listening to music, and singing. However, there is also another side to her that is passionate about mental health above everything. Having been a part of an NGO for ten years that preaches and teaches meditation, she has grown to become more patient, empathetic, and purposeful. She prays to make society more mentally and emotionally healthy.

Q&A

How would you describe your personality?
I'm an ambivert who can get along with both extroverts and introverts. I love anything that gives my creativity a space to evolve, like dancing, walking on the ramp, or acting. I am deeply spiritual and passionate about mental health; practicing meditation helps me be my best version.

What is your proudest personal accomplishment?
I was only 17 years old when I was diagnosed with severe depression, and many people around me were not aware of mental health issues. It was a difficult phase, but I’m proud of how it made me better.

What are the three qualities every woman must possess?
She should have confidence in her uniqueness, have genuine empathy in her heart, and have a drive for knowledge to understand her rights.

What is your motto in life?
Treat people how you want to be treated.

Tell us about a cause you care about and why?
I care about mental and emotional well-being. Meditation has been an essential part of my life for ten years now, and I want more people to develop an interest in it. I’m passionate about this cause since I have experienced a very dark and lonely time at a vulnerable age in my life, and I came out of it more robust and happier through meditation only.

If you had to be born as another person, who would it be and why?
I don’t want to be anyone else. I believe in my life’s journey. Like my childhood experiences, education, upbringing, past friendships, current friendships, all the bad times and good times, and how they have shaped me into who I am today. I love who I am, and I look forward to who I’ll become in the future.

What is the craziest rumor you ever heard about yourself?
That I am actually fat, but I try hard to hide it to look thin.

Which beauty queen inspires you the most?
Miss Universe 2000 Lara Dutta

What is your guilty pleasure?
Daydreaming!

What is your greatest ambition, and where do you see yourself in five years?
My greatest ambition is to make a career out of what I love combined with social service of one or more kinds. In the next five years, I see myself as a successful artist who dances, models act, and has successfully introduced mental health as a mandatory subject in schools across India.

What would be your advice for the youth of today?
The digital world has made our lives easier, but its downside is making people feel lonelier, or sometimes people comparing themselves to others’ cautiously shared lives on social media. So make sure you remind yourselves every now and then that social media can never be the ultimate truth, and you are never ever alone.

If you were to be granted one wish, what would you ask for?
I believe we all have faced unique hardships in life, and we all have unresolved trauma that we carry within us. Therefore, I wish for humans’ healing so that there is only love within themselves to share with another.
